Located at the spot where the south branch of the Chicago river began, this area grew rapidly in the 1830s as immigrants moved in to work on the Illinois and Michigan Canal, joining the Chicago river to the Illinois river. It was also home to a bridge across the river that was too low for ships to pass under, which meant that they had to dock and unload all their goods there.

1.5" Square Magnet.

Designed and produced by Transit Tees in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.
