This postcard depicts a map of the area of the city that burned down in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. This calamity swept through 3.3 square miles of the city, destroying thousands of buildings and leaving countless residents homeless. Lurid newspaper headlines from the time recount the horrors of that night. At the center of the conflagration stood a barn belonging to a Mrs. O'Leary, whose cow is blamed for knocking over a lantern which started the blaze.

Offset Printed on 16pt cover stock.

Designed by Transit Tees in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.
